The Feminist Academy is a reading group and debate circle led by an academic — a place to read thought-provoking books, challenge patriarchy, and find your people in the process.
A room for the curious
Some of us want to speak up. Some want to listen more closely. Some want to understand the systems shaping our lives well enough to change the conversation at work, at home, and in our own heads.
You do not need a perfect reading record or a finished opinion to join. The Academy is built around a simple monthly rhythm and the belief that ideas become more useful when we get to work through them together.

About Solange
A thoughtful place to begin.
The Feminist Academy is led and curated by Solange Gulizzi, a doctoral researcher and PhD candidate in Art History at the University of Essex. She has spent years researching power and gender through art and architecture.
Her research looks at how gender and class shape the spaces we live in — and how those spaces shape everyday experience, identity, inequality and forms of resistance. Rooted in feminist theory, it asks what these ideas can help us notice in ordinary life.
Solange has taught in universities and secondary schools, and worked as an academic editor, including as Editor in Chief of a university art history journal. She founded and facilitates the monthly feminist book club, meeting in person and online.
For members, that means rigorous ideas made accessible: no perfectionism, no gatekeeping, everyone welcome.
A feminist practice, not a performance.
The work is serious. The room does not have to be intimidating.
